The iT8 intelligent communicating thermostat contains a built in temperature sensor and provides up to three 24VAC relays and two 0-10V analog outputs to control Heat Pumps, Fan Coils, VAV boxes, Motorized Dampers, VFDs, Valves, Compressor Cooling units, and other standard HVAC equipment. There are buttons on the front of the tstat that allow the user to adjust the setpoint temperature, turn the unit on/off, choose the Fan Mode, and choose heat or cool mode when using the iT8 for standard thermostat functions. The iT8 can function as a classical thermostat, using its own internal control loops to change relay states and analog output voltages in order to maintain the actual temperature at the setpoint, OR the unit can operate in slave mode which would allow a higher level control system to read the temperature and setpoint values and directly control the relays & outputs based on a customized sequence of operation. The iT8 can be monitored and controlled directly over RS485 by 3rd party controllers and/or software solutions. (please contact us for detailed protocol information) The iT8 can be monitored and controlled over IP/Ethernet by utilizing the iT8 BarioNet gateway which communicates with up to 16 of the iT8 thermostats via RS485 and exposes all of the data and functions to the supervisory system via ModbusTCP, TCP, Telnet, or HTTP. The iT8 BarioNet gateway can also be used to perform your own customized control functions AND provide a simple web-based GUI for the system being controlled, providing you with a powerful & low cost system that can operate completely standalone if desired.
